Chimp Haven, Shreveport, Louisiana
Queenie, a retired chimpanzee wiles away the day by munching on a carrot at Chimp Haven just outside of Shreveport, Louisiana. Sadly, many of these graceful creatures are often discarded by mankind after serving their purpose. Chimp Haven strives to provide humane care for retired medical, entertainment or unwanted pet chimpanzees. As a public service, and to promote better education about these endangered primates, the sanctuary is opened up to visitors on select days throughout the year.
If You Go:
- Make sure to check the Chimp Haven website for public days before making the trek out to the sanctuary
- Chimp Haven website
- Shreveport Bossier Convention and Tourist Bureau
A portion of this review’s underlying trip was hosted by Shreveport-Bossier Convention and Tourist Bureau and Chimp Haven. My opinions, however, are my own, and I was not paid to express any bias for or against this product or destination.
