Fans of Marilyn Monroe have been flocking to Palm Springs in droves. Their target, the 26ft tall sculpture of the blonde bombshell that arrived May 2012. Sadly her time in the desert is coming to a close. Originally slated to leave her spot on the corner of Palm Canyon & Tahquitz Canyon Way June 2013, she’s been granted a three month reprieve and will now be staying throughout the summer, finally taking her last bow in September.
Visitors to Palm Springs can still celebrate all things Marilyn Monroe this year by attending one of the Outdoor Movies Series taking place in May and June, Marilyn’s 86th Birthday party on June 1st, or Shortfest June 18th to 24th. Be sure to make your way to Palm Springs before she leaves and have your picture taken with one of America’s most beloved icons.
