Less than 48 hours ago, the race to find the best bartender for Palms Springs’ cocktail challenge kicked off in Chicago, Illinois.  The iconic Sidetrack bar hosted the first of fourteen rounds to find best bartenders at top clubs across North America. The challenge:  stir up Palm Springs inspired cocktails as part of the 4th Annual Palm Springs Summer Splash Cocktail Challenge presented by Here Media and Alaska Airlines. Palm Springs is one of the premier gay destination resorts worldwide and offers gay travelers a broad range of almost thirty hotels, resorts, and guest houses, including clothing optional men’s resorts.

As part of the competition, Palm Springs will host Cocktail Challenges at gay clubs from coast to coast, and up North to Canada. Cities on the circuit this year include Chicago, Dallas, Fort Lauderdale, Houston, Las Vegas, Portland, Sacramento, San Jose, San Diego, San Francisco, Seattle, Vancouver, Canada, Washington, DC, and West Hollywood.

At each club, bartenders will compete and create their own signature Palm Springs-infused cocktail; they will be evaluated on taste, presentation and appearance. Contenders for the top title will also be judged on creativity and attire, as well as presentation and audience participation. Bar-hoppers attending the event will receive Palm Springs swag, and plenty of it, including free hotel stays. The winner of each Cocktail Challenge in a city will be flown out for a two-night stay to compete in the grand finale in Palm Springs being held May 30th at Hunter’s. The Finale also kicks off Summer Splash, presented by Desert Gay Tourism Guild.
