Dusk arrives as the sun sets on the Pont de L’Europe bridge spaning the Rhine. This magnificent structure connects Kehl, Germany to the French city of Strasbourg. Kehl and Strasbourg’s history have been intertwined since 1338 when the first permanent bridge between the two cities was built. Today, Kehl is one of Germany’s most important links to France and a major stop for river cruise ships that ply their way up and down the Rhine. Gay visitors to Kehl will be pleasantly surprised to find several small gay bars in addition to the ones in larger Strasbourg.
