Located halfway between Los Angeles and San Diego, Temecula Valley is the perfect romantic getaway for gay couples. Whether you live in Southern California or just visiting one of our gayborhoods, you can be enjoying the good life in wine country within two hours. For a truly memorable visit that without straining your wallet, consider planning your stay midweek. Here are five top reasons to  find yourself in this chic and happening  destination on a weekday.

5. Midweek events at Pechanga Resort & Casino
Like all casino and resorts, Pechanga get creative to draw visitors to their entertainment and gaming venues during the slow weekdays. From headline concerts to new Bingo matinee sessions there’s sure to be something to strike your fancy.

4. Easier golf tee-time availability
Seven impressive golf courses sprinkle the Temecula Wine Country, often offering better tee-time availability  on weekdays. Time to hit the links.

3.Enjoy old town Temecula’s tasting trail at a slower pace
Artisanal eateries and wine tasting rooms are bombarded on the weekends. Weekdays allow visitors to linger at local favorites such the Temecula Olive Oil Company, Old Town Root Beer Company, the Lorimar Winery Old Town Tasting Room and more.

2. More affordable accommodations and activities
Not only are hotels, motels and resorts priced more competitively midweek, but many special excursions like hot air balloons, tours and golf can be had at reduced rates.

1.Take your time enjoying the vineyards,
Less busy weekdays are the perfect opportunity to indulge yourself in a few of the 40 or so wineries that span the valley. A slower pace means that you have the opportunity to enjoy more one on one time with winemakers, discussing their wonderful selection of world class vino.

  1. As the Purveyor of FUN for http://www.meetup.com/Fun-Stuff-To-Do-In-Temecula-Murrieta-For-Free-To-50/ you are spot on Nathan! Living in the area, I can tell you that many of my friends have only visited 1-2 wineries (which are in our own backyard). During the week you can go to a winery (seasonally) and catch a Shakespearean play, Salsa dance in old town at Viva Vino, karaoke at Rodrigos and of course take a wine tour from my buddy, Tom Plant of Wineormous! Yes, Nathan there are plenty of things to do in Temecula. Thanks for checking us out! Sounds like you had a BLAST!

  2. Nathan, great article. We couldn’t agree with your insights more. Going to the vineyards during the week is such a great experience. Whereas, the servers on the weekends can seem harried and the pace of your experience can seem frantic. There’s a much calmer atmosphere, where people, including owners and winemakers, can spend time to explain about the wine. If you’re there to appreciate wine and the process of wine making, then weekdays are where it’s at.

First hand, we also agree with midweek is the way to go for cheap accommodations. Not only are rooms significantly cheaper (often 50% or greater savings compared to weekend rates), but they’re available. There’s a shortage of rooms in the Wine Country area and during the busy season, March – September, rooms can actually be sold out weeks in advance, on weekends. For example, we currently have weekend room nights sold out for roughly the next three months. Bottom line, the weekdays are where it’s at in Temecula.
